GroupOnStairsOur volunteer Corner Captains are the backbone of Safe Passage’s strategy for keeping Tenderloin Youth safe.

Corner Captains monitor key high-risk street corners in the Tenderloin during the after-school commute times. They are a constant visual safety presence and resource for neighborhood youth.

Should a safety concern arise Corner Captains communicate the situation with each other so that children and families can be directed away from danger.

Corner captains are provided with a high contrast vest and hat, and a Safe Passage cell phone to use in case of emergency. They undergo a safety training and neighborhood orientation.

To volunteer as a Corner Captain contact our Volunteer Coordinator: volunteer@tenderloinsafepassage.org
